Jude Law

Born on December 29, 1972, Jude Law started acting at a young age. Law came from an acting family. His parents own an acting and drama school in France. Law studied acting while attending the National Youth Music theater when he was 12, but dropped out when he was 17 to star in a TV daytime soap called the Families. In 1992, Law focused on acting on stage and was later nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for the Outstanding Newcomer.

One of his most notable plays was Indiscretions in London before doing the same role in Broadway opposite Kathleen Turner. He received a Tony award nomination for this performance for outstanding Supporting Actor. Law later received the Theater World Award before he began starring on big screen movies.

His first major movie role was in Gattaca in 1997 before he starred in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. He received critical acclaim for his performance in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Law is also a partner of a production company called Natural Nylon with ex-wife Sadie Frost, Johnnie Lee Miller, and Ewan McGregor.

Law was named one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood in 2006, and in 2007, received an Honorary Cesar as well as named Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.

Aside from acting, the British hunk is also involved in charity activities. He helped raised money for the Young Vic Theater's and is currently the chair of the Young Vic committee. In 2006, he joined forces with Robbie Williams in the Soccer Aid Match that will benefit UNICEF. He also works with such organizations as Make Poverty History and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
