| Frank Lampard With all of his family fiercely involved in the game of football, it was no surprise that Frank Lampard became a footballer. Lampard was born in Romford, Essex in England on June 20, 1978. As a young boy, he spent hours playing the game at the local park. The combination of inherited interest and inborn determination made Lampard the ideal competitive athlete. He was the sort who does not just play but wants to be the best in what he does. In 1994, he already signed a youth contract with the Hammers. After a year with West Ham, he was loaned to Swansea. It was a difficult decision to make for the young English footballer because he had to leave his family behind. Frank Lampard is well-known for being very family-oriented. In the 1998 to 1999 season, however, he got his wish to play regularly for West Ham. He played a big role in the team’s fifth place finish. In 2001, a new chapter began in Lampard’s football life. He was transferred to Chelsea for a fee of 11 million pounds. Because Chelsea’s manager, Ranieri, loves Lampard’s football style, the athlete was easily placed into first team action. Chelsea fans began appreciating the new midfielder as he displayed some skill by scoring a total of eight goals in one season. They have come to expect more action from Lampard during the next seasons with Chelsea. In 2003, Roman Abramovich, known as one of the world’s wealthiest men bought Chelsea Football Club. This move actually further provided Lampard with a means to show his skills. Working side by side with skilled players, Frank Lampard upped his game and actually scored 19 goals in the 2004 to 2005 season. |
